About author
It was a cold February night in Breckenridge, Colorado, when the idea for their website OystersandChocolate.com first emerged. Jordan LaRousse and Samantha Sade, friends since the fifth grade, were celebrating a mutual best friend’s birthday with a boisterous evening of hot-tubbing, champagne, and dancing. Both women were doing work for other magazines, and talk inevitably turned that way.
As graduates of the University of Colorado with Bachelor’s degrees in English, fiction was both Samantha and Jordan’s primary love; erotic fiction in particular. They had both written erotica and enjoyed reading it, and were familiar with the few online magazines dedicated to the genre.
But as they talked, they realized that most of the existing sites were either geared towards men or acted as repositories, publishing anything no matter if it was good or not. Jordan and Samantha were looking for quality literary erotica, and while they had found a few sites that provided good stuff, the two women agreed that there was a sore absence of literary erotic content geared towards women. Their mission was clear.
Jordan and Samantha, partnering with Samantha’s husband, incorporated in February of 2005. The first issue of Oysters & Chocolate erotica went live on an independence day of sorts July, 4 2005 and was viewed by a small but pleased group of visitors. The site grew to thousands of stories and hundreds of contributors before shutting down in January of 2013. O&C was truly a playground for writers, artists, and readers to showcase and enjoy quality erotic works.
Some people have asked, why the name? Oysters and chocolate are both aphrodisiacs, but obviously they don’t belong on the same plate. They represent the spectrum of sexuality and sensuality from bondage to romance. The question Jordan and Samantha want to ask and answer at Oysters & Chocolate erotica is what turns you on?
Publishing Oysters & Chocolate erotica was the utmost passion for Jordan and Samantha, who are self-proclaimed champions of female sexuality. They particularly enjoyed watching their contributors launch successful writing careers, often with Oysters & Chocolate erotica acting as their first publication credit.
The two ladies like to say that Oysters & Chocolate erotica was first born in their imaginations as they walked arm-in-arm over icy sidewalks back to the rented condo, with frozen fingers and red noses, champagne on their breath and a twinkle in their eyes. But truly, Oysters & Chocolate erotica arose from that spark in every woman where the mind, body, and imagination come together to make for great sex.
